CRT Moniters

CRT moniters get their name from the picture tube inside, which is officially called a "cathode ray tube" (CRT). It works in pretty much the same way that a TV works, at least old fashioned TVs with picture tubes in them. The picture tube is the reason that CRT moniters are so big. The picture tube is what's taking up all that space. Because LCD moniters have no picture tube, they can be much thinner.
