More and more people are opting to get LCD flat panel moniters for their computers instead of the old CRT moniters. In fact, many new computers come with an LCD moniter. There are advantages and disadvantes though.
Disadvantages:
The main disadvantage to using an LCD moniter is that colors aren't displayed as accurately as they are on CRT moniters. And the hue of the colors you see are different depending on the angle from which you are looking at the moniter. The colors will be slightly different if you look at the moniter straight on than if you look at it while standing up and looking down at it.
Another disadvantage is the price. LCD moniters are more expensive than CRT moniters.
Advantages:
A big advantage is the space that you can save on your desk. LCD moniters take up much less space than a CRT.
More screen space. An LCD moniter gives you more screen space than a CRT moniter of the same size. A 17" LCD moniter gives you 17" of screen space, whereas a 17" CRT gives you about 16" of screen.
An LCD moniter can also give you a crisper picture. In fact, many allow you get a digital picture using a digital input on the back. This isn't important to most people, but it may become more normal as time goes on.
